DSC300 SDI SIGNAL COMPARATOR

An ideal tool for large switching centers.

The DSC300 continually compares two SDI inputs which are presumed to be identical, and outputs a split screen picture for viewing.  The digital stream of Input A is continuously subtracted from Input B.  If both streams are equal, the difference will be zero.  A single error or difference will be registered and stored, for example, if a pixel differs slightly in luminance level between the two inputs.  These errors are accumulated and stored for one field, and the store is refreshed to zero every field.

A card edge 10 position switch is used to set the threshold at which the total of the stored errors will cause a GPO to be triggered.  The threshold may be set from a minimum of 500 errors per field to a maximum of 10 million errors.  Obviously, any difference in picture content, such as a differing or missing logo, would cause an instant alarm.  If video is absent from one of the inputs, the GPO will be triggered and the side of the split screen without video will go to black. 

The DSC300 constantly monitors the SDI stream for embedded audio.  Two GPO's and card edge LED's are used to indicate the presence/absence of embedded audio in Input A and Input B.

Maximum current drain for the three GPO's is 100mA each.  The DSC300 occupies one of three slots in the FR601, 1RU frame.
